Glamorous Desserts

This is the time to be as creative as you like and add
a bit of glamour to the occasion. Puddings, whether
hot or cold, should not be passed off as just something
before the cheese – they are treats for all to enjoy!

The end of a dinner or special meal can be the perfect time to show off your creative
flair and leave your guests with happy memories and clamouring for your recipes!
Also many desserts can be made in advance giving you more time to prepare and
get the perfect results.  This course will look at the art of gorgeous and gooey
meringues or Pavlovas; light and fluffy soufflés or mousses; flaky pastry layers;

There is more to cake decorating than Cup Cakes –
though you will see them in every bakers’ window these
days and they also turn up as Wedding cakes – but
it is a good place to start.

This simple Cake Decorating course covers numerous ways to decorate
Cup Cakes and goes on to also look at handling butter cream and
fondant icing for larger cakes. You will try out all sorts of effects,
learn different piping techniques and shapes – and even make your
own or a friends’ Birthday cake if you wish?

Cake icing skills are not difficult they just take time, patience, a little artistic touch and a bit of precision work. Come along and have a go! Bring some friends and get creative!

Besides the kneading, rolling, shaping, cooking and flavouring of pasta, we will make various pasta dishes; a selection of classics –

and sauces, through a complete roast meal, working with eggs for both mayonnaise and puddings; handling fish and meat, cooking rice and pasta, and making some easy yet delicious weekday suppers.

You’re never too young to enjoy the treats of the kitchen made by your own hand!

Students will go through a few basic techniques, the use of knives and kitchen dangers. Then they will watch and cook dishes such as Vegetable Couscous, Fish Pie, Ham and Apple Scones, filled Crunchy Potato Skins, Spicy Chicken Wings, and Blueberry Muffins. At the end they will have a chance to taste
all the dishes and take samples home along with their recipes and notes.

Healthy cooking and eating is vital for all ages and especially for the young. Feed the brain! Learn to
love cooking at an early age. Become excited by blending flavours. Have fun with new tastes. Keep your food fresh and simple. Buy locally produced food. Choose the best quality you can afford.
